The Call to Prayer

Hallelujah! Praise the LORD from the heavens;* praise him in the heights.
Psalm 148:1

The Request for Presence

You are my helper and my deliverer;* O LORD, do not tarry.
Psalm 70:6

The Greeting

O LORD, I am your servant;* I am your servant and the child of your handmaid; you have freed me from my bonds.
Psalm 116:14

The Hymn

When peace, like a river, attends to my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, You have taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul. It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul. And, Lord, haste the day when faith will be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll, The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend, "Even so," it is well with my soul. It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul.
Horatio Spafford

The Refrain for the Vespers Lessons

Turn again to your rest, O my soul,* for the LORD has treated you well.
Psalm 116:6

The Vespers Psalm

My Soul Is Content

O God, you are my God; eagerly I seek you;* my soul thirsts for you, my flesh faints for you, as in a barren and dry land where there is no water. Therefore I have gazed upon you in your holy place,* that I might behold your power and your glory. For your loving-kindness is better than life itself;* my lips shall give you praise. So will I bless you as long as I live* and lift up my hands in your Name. My soul is content, as with marrow and fatness,* and my mouth praises you with joyful lips, When I remember you upon my bed,* and meditate on you in the night watches. For you have been my helper,* and under the shadow of your wings I will rejoice.
Psalm 63:1-7

The Refrain

Turn again to your rest, O my soul,* for the LORD has treated you well.
Psalm 116:6

The Cry of the Church

Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your Name. May your kingdom come, and your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for yours are the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

The Prayer Appointed for the Week

Merciful God, who sent your messengers the prophets to preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: Grant us grace to heed their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The Concluding Prayer of the Church

Lord God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ, triumphed over the powers of death and prepared for us our place in the new Jerusalem: Grant that I, who have this day given thanks for his resurrection, may praise you in the City of which he is the light, and where he lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
