— What churches tell us they need
How it works in CareNote
CareNote offers two ways to assign care: Assignments for long-term ongoing care relationships, and Care Requests for one-time or short-term care needs.
Option 1: Long-term Assignments
Use this when a volunteer will care for someone on an ongoing basis.
Go to Admin → Assignments → Create
This is where you set up ongoing care relationships
Select the care receiver and caregiver
Choose the person who needs care and the volunteer who will provide it
Set a visitation schedule (optional)
Configure weekly, biweekly, or monthly visit frequency. CareNote will track when visits are due.
Option 2: One-time Care Requests
Use this for specific care needs that need to be handled.
Create a Care Request
From the Dashboard, click “Create Care Request”
Assign to an individual OR a group
Assign directly to a volunteer, or send to a group where the first person to accept gets the assignment
Volunteer receives notification
They get an email or SMS and can accept/report back without logging in

- Automatic email/SMS notifications to volunteers
- First-to-respond routing—first volunteer to accept gets the assignment
- Volunteers can respond via email—no login required
