Mission & Vision
Mission Statement
To extend Christ's love through practical care, supporting our community in times of need through Prayer Ministry, ensuring no one walks through difficult seasons alone.
Core Values
- • Compassion – Serving with Christ-like love and care for those who are grieving, hurting, or in crisis.
- • Presence – Showing up consistently through prayer, practical support, and relational care.
- • Prayerfulness – Covering individuals, families, and the community in intentional, Spirit-led prayer.
Ministry Focus Areas
Prayer Ministry
Purpose: Cover the Broadway Church community in consistent prayer, responding to specific needs and walking with people through difficult seasons.
Key Steps
- • Clarify the core prayer environments at Broadway (open-door weekly prayer, monthly and weekly prayer emails, chaplain visits, and other prayer gatherings).
- • Establish a clear Prayer Request pathway (online form, email, or CareNote) so people know how to ask for prayer and follow-up.
- • Organize Prayer Teams or Prayer Partners who will review requests weekly and provide ongoing intercession and encouragement.
- • Provide brief training around confidentiality, spiritual sensitivity, and gentle follow-up—especially for hospital visitations and sensitive pastoral situations.
- • Share answered prayers and testimonies (with permission) to encourage faith and highlight what God is doing.
Existing Care & Support at Broadway
Broadway Church already has a rich foundation of care for those in need. The Care Ministry can help bring alignment, visibility, and follow-up across these efforts.
Current Expressions of Care
- • GriefShare and DivorceCare courses offered throughout the year.
- • Extensive benevolence through CityReach, including housing help for those experiencing homelessness, emergency food hampers, and practical supports for those in need.
- • Seniors care program providing relational, spiritual, and practical support for older adults.
- • Spiritual care and counselling services offered to those in need who attend Broadway Church.
- • One-day-a-week open-door prayer environment, plus weekly and monthly prayer emails people can subscribe to.
- • Chaplain ministry providing hospital visitations and prayer in moments of crisis.
Implementation Plan
Step 1: Identify Care Ministry Leader and Team
- • Confirm the point leader for Care Ministry (Pastor Nicole or a designated care / prayer ministry leader).
- • Discern a small core team to help carry Prayer Ministry, follow-up, and coordination with existing care efforts.
- • Clarify roles: intake / coordination, prayer team leads, follow-up care, and communication.
- • For help shaping roles and expectations, explore the How to Recruit Care Ministry Leaders.
Step 2: Set Up Care Request Intake Process
- • Decide on the primary pathway for Care and Prayer Requests (online form, dedicated email, or CareNote).
- • Map out how requests will be reviewed, assigned, and tracked so that no one falls through the cracks.
- • Use CareNote to log requests, assign next steps, and track follow-up across teams and ministries.
- • For sample workflows and configuration ideas, visit the Care Ministry Implementation Hub.
Step 3: Schedule Volunteer Training
- • Host an orientation for current and prospective volunteers serving in Prayer Ministry and other care expressions.
- • Cover essentials: heart behind care at Broadway, confidentiality and boundaries, listening and prayer, and how to record care in CareNote.
- • Use the training ideas and outlines in the Implementation Hub – Training Framework.
Step 4: Create a Communication Plan
- • Clearly communicate how people can request care and how to get involved as volunteers (Sunday services, website, email newsletter, and small groups).
- • Ensure CityReach, GriefShare, DivorceCare, Seniors, and other teams know how Care Ministry and Prayer Ministry support them.
- • Use existing templates and examples from the Implementation Hub to shape language and invite participation.
